How fast do you read books?
I was just wondering, how fast do you read books?, like, right now, I've got a few I want to read, just 'cause I ended up buying quite a few, and now, I've probably finished 4 in the past few days (admittedly, 2 of them were quite short, and I only had to finish 1/2 of it since I started a few months ago), but, normally, I don't finish books so quickly, in fact, especially if I don't enjoy it, it takes me awhile to get to the end.
Anyway, how fast do you read?. |

If it's fiction I can read a book a day. A Nora Roberts book takes a day, Twilight would take 2-3 days depending on how much time I had to read.
Non-fiction books take me longer because I have to digest the information. I don't have an average time for those.. |

For me it always depends on the book. If I really get into a book I can finish in a day, easy (for a normal sized book). I hate to give up on books and if I don't get really into it right away I will plug along nice and slow and I've been known to be in the middle of a book for probably over a month or more. But I guess an average would be a few days to under a week... life does get in the way sometimes.

It depends on the book, and how much is on my mind. If I'm in a depressed state, I can read quite quickly, albeit I rarely finish a book in a day. A typical book (400-500 pages) can be finished in 3-5 days, though I have been known to finish Dean Koontz books in a number of hours. *shrugs*

However... I am currently reading a non-fiction book that is taking me MUCH longer. It will probably take me about a week, so that I can digest the information. If I'm REALLY into the topic, i may take notes too. (Most of my religious/pagan/mythology books are that way - I write down important info for my BOS.) |

For me it really depends on how long i get to read at a time.
Uninterrupted i can read a Nora Roberts, Gena Showalter, Krestley Cole, etc...in 4-5 hours. An 800 page book will take me a day and a half to two days to read. And i read Gone With the Wind in 3 days.....That had to be one of the most boring books i have ever read. The public library got tired of me checking out a couple different books each day so they made me do it myself whenever i wanted to check one out. lol. Any book 200 pages or less i can read in less than 2 hours |

Far too fast usually for fiction lol.
I joke that it sucks because I so want to know what happens that I can't put it down but at the same time part of me doesn't want it to end ![]() I have just read two series recently, Twilight being one of them. And I was finishing a book over night. In 2 months time I had read that whole series twice. The other series I was finishing each book the day I brought it home. If I am not super into it then it takes a bit longer. I'll often do like a chapter or two at a time then put it aside until the next day. Nonfiction takes me forever to read though. I just pick apart every word I swear & have to think about it all lol.

I average about a book a week. But I only read at night before bed.

Depends on how awake I am, how eager I am to read the book and which difficulty level the book has.
Twilight books I read in 3 hours each, maximum. Stephen King's Duma Key took me about... seven hours all in all to read. (I only read in the evenings before bed so this is an estimated guess) Lord Of The Rings "Trilogy" is taking me far longer, merely because I chose to read other things along side it. I usually read books at 3 at a time or similar, at least if I like them... otherwise they'd take me too short a time to read. A book that is about... 200 - 300 pages long takes me about two to three hours to read all in all. Duma Key is something like 680 pages and took me about six to eight hours combined to read. I'm a quick reader, my husband thinks I'm a bit of a freak. If I have nothing else to do one day but read I can get through one - three books depending on length and quality. I used to be a quicker reader though. It used to take me no more than an hour and a half to read a 200 - 300 page book.

Words would fail to tell the glory of her hair, most wonderful of all her charms--A friend declared to me he saw its lovely splendour. Fame declares the Sovereign of the Sea attained her love in chaste Minerva's temple. While enraged she turned her head away and held her shield before her eyes. To punish that great crime Minerva changed the Gorgon's splendid hair to serpents horrible. And now to strike her foes with fear, she wears upon her breast those awful vipers--creatures of her rage.
